Kristapsons Smoked Salmon

Ādolfs Kristapsons (1908–2010), after arriving in Canada as a refugee, opened his own shop in 1953. There, he sold meat, sausages, and also salmon, which he smoked according to Latvian traditions. After approximately ten years, the shop specialized exclusively in smoked salmon and was renamed “Kristapsons Smoked Salmon.”

Kristapsons himself built the first smokehouses, which made it possible to prepare salmon using the cold-smoking methods characteristic of Latvia. Based on a traditional recipe and simple ingredients, he created a high-quality product. Although the ownership of the company has changed over time, the original salmon recipe has remained unchanged to this day.
