Vita talks about her first years in New York, USA, in the 1950s:
After a few years, we had to find out – where could you get blood sausages? That was in Brooklyn. And where were the good bakeries? There they had rum cake – not a layered cake, but a heavy one, you know. And then in the German district you had to go to Café Geiger, where you could also enjoy those treats at the tables… And there was that one deli, where you could buy sausages that suited our taste. Or cheeses, all those European things.
