Ilze and Kristaps on Latvian food
Ottawa, Canada
Ilze: We found sweet curd snacks in a Russian shop. And we went a bit crazy. We bought 100 of them! And the saleswoman says to us, “For the kids, right?” And at the checkout we’re like: “No, we’re eating them ourselves!” … That’s the store where we go to really stock up. They’ve got all sorts of things you can get in Latvia. They even have Latvian “Serenāde” and “Napoleon” cakes – the kind I just stuff myself with endlessly!
Kristaps: They’ve got Lithuanian cheese too – we buy that sometimes. You know, cheese just tastes different somehow . And then all your taste buds feel satisfied, so you don’t even need the Latvian stuff anymore. All it takes is rye bread, cheese, and a chocolate curd snack.
