And that was the case with every recipe I made. I thought, okay—take my grandmother, for example, semolina pudding (buberts). Semolina pudding (buberts) is more or less vanilla pudding, and if my grandmother had had access to a large grocery store where she could go and buy a packet of vanilla pudding, would she really have wanted to stand in the kitchen for hours? No. Let’s go and do it the way we do it in this century, in this era.
